As a biomedical engineer, I am interested in novel techniques to acquire, process and analyze neural data. Can we use brain computer interfaces to help people with disabilities? Can we manage certain diseases using appropriate neural feedback? I believe that we are getting closer and closer to do just that.
Secondly, I am interested in developing tools to help researchers do research. I belief that one of the biggest challenges in research today is data-management. State of the art technologies allow scientists to generate massive quantities of data but managing these datasets proves difficult. Inability to search through datasets, proprietary file-formats and inconsistent storage schemes result in decreased research efficiency. New technologies, such as cloud computing and social network sites could be used to redefine scientific data management, increase collaborative efforts and promote standardized methods of data analysis.
